| Notes: | A particularly low flood plain, beside which the confining terraces are less prominent, has a collapsed Dutch-style shed, left of center, and a cow in the lower left. The sky is almost clear. This modest little painting was dwarfed by the Bierstadts and Coles when it travelled with them (for counterpoint and contrast) as part of the Wadsworth Atheneum's exhibit on the Hudson River School, to which Heade has often been erroneously assigned. |
