Notes:	This dark powerful work, with heavy shadows across the sky and much of the foreground, has at its center, a winter haystack, half-cut, capped by snow, and lit by a low sun. The face of the stack is bisected by a ladder and its shadow, evoking comparisons with the famous Talbot photograph made at Laycock, England, some forty years earlier.
