The one used by Corbis is of 'neat hayricks' -- if this is so, then the cattle are probably being fed. More likely, these are small stacks of sheaves, which are being strewn in a notably tidy circle, on the farmyard floor, for the cattle to trample on, a traditional mode of threshing, after which the straw and chaff are tossed into the air to separate the waste from the heavier grain.
