Index Words:  haystacks, mistakes, cattle
Place:  India
Notes:  Two interpretations of this image, taken in Leh, Ladakh, are possible. The one used by Corbis is of 'neat hayricks' -- if this is so, then the cattle are probably being fed. More likely, these are small stacks of sheaves, which are being strewn in a notably tidy circle, on the farmyard floor, for the cattle to trample on, a traditional mode of threshing, after which the straw and chaff are tossed into the air to separate the waste from the heavier grain. On the roof of the stone house is something that really looks like a small stack of hay.
